Romanian associate of ex-candidate Potra to face trial
A man named Horatiu Potra, who is friends with a former presidential candidate in Romania, is going to come back to Romania from Dubai to go on trial.
He and many other people are accused of planning to cause riots after an election was canceled.
The election was canceled because people thought Russia might have been trying to influence it, which Russia denies.
Potra had run away to Dubai to avoid being arrested, but his lawyer said he wants to return to face the charges with his son and nephew, who are also accused.
Prosecutors had found a lot of weapons at his house.
Another candidate won the re-run election.
Horatiu Potra, an associate of former Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu, will return to Romania from Dubai to face trial.
Potra and 20 others were indicted in September for conspiring to stage violent protests after an election was cancelled.
The election cancellation was due to suspected Russian interference, an allegation denied by Moscow.
Potra had evaded arrest by going to Dubai and prosecutors sought his extradition, believing he might seek asylum in Russia.
Prosecutors found a large cache of weapons and cash at Potra's home during raids in February.
