Akal Takht Jathedar Refrains from Message on Operation Bluestar Anniversary
On the anniversary of a major event called Operation Bluestar, the top Sikh religious leader, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, chose not to give a speech.
This was because some groups didn't want him to speak, and he wanted to avoid trouble.
Another leader, Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, gave a speech instead.
Some people protested, wanting a separate Sikh country called Khalistan.
The situation was tense due to differing opinions among Sikh groups.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj did not deliver a message at the 41st anniversary of Operation Bluestar.
This was a break from tradition, with the officiating Jathedar also not honoring families.
The SGPC President, Harjinder Singh Dhami, conferred honors instead.
Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, the parallel Jathedar, delivered his address from within the Akal Takht.
