Star Wars Poster Sets Record at $3.875 Million
A very old poster for the movie Star Wars, painted by an artist named Tom Jung, was sold for a huge amount of money.
This poster is special because it was the first image people saw to introduce them to Star Wars.
It shows Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Darth Vader.
The poster sold for $3.875 million, which is more than any other movie poster or even movie memorabilia like Darth Vader's lightsaber.
People who collect movie stuff think this shows that movie posters are now seen as important art, not just souvenirs.
The poster is important because it helped people understand what Star Wars was about before the movie even came out.
Tom Jung's original 1977 Star Wars poster sold for $3.875 million, setting a new record for movie-related artwork.
The poster was commissioned by 20th Century Fox and became the official theatrical image for the film's release in the U.S.
The sale price surpassed the previous record held by a rare Dracula (1931) poster and Darth Vader's lightsaber from Return of the Jedi.
The poster is considered a significant piece of cinema history and is now valued as a serious investment in the art market.
The artwork introduced the Star Wars saga to audiences and helped define its identity before the film's release.
