St George Hospital Denies Blood Bank Disruption Amid Supervisor Shortage

A hospital in Mumbai has two different stories being told about its blood bank.

Some patients and health activists say the blood bank has not been preparing special blood parts for almost a month.

That is because the two people approved to check the work of the blood bank have left.

These special blood parts are very important for children with thalassemia, a disease that needs blood transfusions every two weeks.

The patients say they have to go to other blood banks to get the blood they need.

But the hospital says everyone is safe and getting their blood.

The hospital says it is borrowing blood parts from other blood banks for now.

A new technician is being registered so the blood bank can start making blood parts again.

The hospital also says one patient named in the complaint has been getting blood regularly, and another has not come to the hospital in two years.

So both sides agree something changed, but they disagree about whether anyone was harmed.
