Tech Employees Urge US-Backed Global AI Regulation
A group of over 1,100 tech employees from big companies like Meta, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google have asked the U.S. government to help create international rules for managing the fast development of advanced AI.
They worry that AI is advancing too quickly and that current safety measures can't keep up.
The initiative is called Pacing the Frontier and is supported by nonprofits like Guidelight AI Standards and Encode AI.
Notable people like Dawn Song from Meta and the co-founders of Anthropic have signed the statement.
OpenAI also posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying they believe the world might need to slow down AI development in the future.
Last month, Anthropic even suggested a temporary pause in AI development to manage risks better.
