Nagendra Resignation Heads to Governor Amid Valmiki Corporation Allegations

B. Nagendra, a minister in Karnataka, resigned during a controversy about the Valmiki Corporation.

Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said Nagendra resigned to protect the Congress party from embarrassment.

Shivakumar also said Nagendra was hurt by what he called false accusations from the Opposition.

He said the allegations were not supported by the investigation reports reviewed by the government.

BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) leaders continued to criticize Nagendra and the Congress government.

BJP leaders claimed the controversy involved money being sent to hundreds of accounts, but these claims were presented as political allegations.

Shivakumar said the resignation would be considered with Congress leaders and legal advice.

One report says the decision would be made the next morning, while another says the letter would be sent to the Governor that day.

The final status of the resignation was therefore not consistent across the reports.
