Indore Sanitation Workers Strike Over Long-Pending Demands

Indore Sanitation Workers Strike Over Long-Pending Demands

Sanitation workers in Indore have started a five-day strike.

They say they want better and fairer work conditions.

Their requests include permanent jobs, equal pay and more permanent workers.

They also want support for families when a worker dies on duty or cannot work because of a medical problem.

Workers gathered at the municipal headquarters, but no senior official came out to receive their written demands.

Some workers were still on duty Monday because they did not know about the strike.

Unions say all sanitation work may stop from Tuesday.

The city corporation says it has sent extra workers to help keep the city clean.
