Delhi Metro's New Subsidiary DMIL Bids for Five Overseas Projects
The Delhi Metro is one of the biggest metro systems in the world.
The people who run it now want to help other countries run their metros too.
They created a new company called DMIL for this job.
DMIL will run trains and give advice, but it will not build new tracks or stations.
The company has already sent offers to five other countries.
Some offers went to Europe and West Asia.
DMIL hopes to earn a lot of money over many years, up to 3,000 crore rupees every year.
The company's leader says big foreign companies are very strong competitors.
But Delhi's metro has 31 years of experience to share.
With that experience, DMIL believes it can win customers around the world.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's new subsidiary, Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), has submitted five international bids in three months for overseas operations and advisory contracts.
DMIL aims to be an asset-light, pure service business focused on operation and maintenance, advisory and consultancy, avoiding construction and asset creation.
The bids include two in Europe, one in West Asia and one in an Indian Ocean country, with two or three more bids in the pipeline and six domestic proposals submitted.
DMIL targets annual income exceeding Rs 2,000-3,000 crore within five to six years, describing service contracts as multi-year with mid-range profitability.
Existing DMRC contracts outside Delhi are expected to be consolidated under DMIL by the end of the financial year, March 2027.
CEO Sanjay Jamuar acknowledged DMIL competes with far larger established firms, such as France's Transdev with annual income over Rs 1 lakh crore, and that client trust abroad will take effort to build.
