Geoeconomic conflict tops global risks for 2026, cybersecurity major concern for India, says WEF
The World Economic Forum (WEF) released a report saying that the biggest risk for the world in 2026 is countries fighting over economic issues.
For India, the biggest worry is cyber attacks.
Other big problems include fake news, extreme weather, and problems caused by artificial intelligence (AI).
The report also says that many people think the world will be unstable in the next 10 years.
The WEF will discuss these risks at their meeting in Davos.
The report also mentions that some countries might fight over water, like in the Indus River Basin between India and Pakistan.
The WEF says that India's payment system is a good example for other countries to follow to make their banking systems stronger.
Geoeconomic conflict is the top global risk for 2026, rising eight positions from previous reports.
Cyber insecurity is a significant concern for India, along with income inequality and economic downturn.
Extreme weather events are the top risk over the next decade, followed by biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse.
Misinformation and disinformation, including deepfakes, are major concerns, impacting political processes and social stability.
AI technologies' negative outcomes are a growing concern, ranking 5th in the 10-year outlook due to impacts on labor markets, societies, and security.
