West Bengal Schools Advance Summer Vacations Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
Some schools in West Bengal are starting their summer break early!
This is because the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, asked them to due to the tensions between India and Pakistan.
Some schools said they had already planned their vacations before, but many others decided to start earlier.
State-run schools were already closed for summer.
This means kids get a little extra time off, which is good if there are any problems with the situation going on.
Several private schools in West Bengal announced early summer vacations starting May 9.
The decision followed a request from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Banerjee cited the India-Pakistan military conflict as the reason for the early closure.
Some schools had already scheduled vacations before the CM's appeal.
State-run and state-aided schools began summer vacations on April 30 due to heat.
