Hollywood’s 2026 Summer Box Office Sets All-Time Record

Hollywood’s 2026 Summer Box Office Sets All-Time Record

Hollywood had its biggest summer at the movie theaters ever recorded.

People in the United States spent about $4.76 billion on movie tickets.

This was slightly more than the previous record from 2013.

However, this summer lasted seven days longer, so the totals are not a perfect comparison.

Every month from May through August made more than $1 billion.

That had never happened before.

The strong results came from steady moviegoing across the whole summer instead of just one huge hit.

The movie business had struggled after the pandemic and Hollywood strikes disrupted releases.

The new record suggests many people are choosing to go back to theaters.
