Road Ministry Enhances Oversight of State Highway Projects
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is making sure state governments are doing a good job on highway projects.
They've noticed some problems, like not checking things carefully enough.
Now, regional officers will be more involved, especially in checking bids and making sure everything follows the rules.
This means they'll look at the paperwork before a project starts and help if there are any legal issues.
They'll also check the state's responses in court cases to protect the government's interests.
This is all to make sure highway projects are done correctly and on time.
MoRTH is expanding oversight of regional officers on National Highway projects.
The move follows observations of critical lapses in projects led by state PWDs/RCDs.
Regional officers will scrutinize bid documents before bids are invited.
ROs will be actively involved in legal and contractual disputes related to NH works.
State PWDs/RCDs must consult with ROs on legal matters.
