Small Nvidia H200 Shipments Reach China Amid Export Restrictions

NVIDIA makes powerful computer chips used for artificial intelligence.

A report says small numbers of its H200 chips have reached mainland China.

ByteDance and Tencent reportedly received about 10,000 chips each.

The United States has allowed each company to buy as many as 100,000 chips.

However, Chinese regulators want the chips kept outside mainland China to help local chip companies grow.

Companies have reportedly been told they may send the chips to Hong Kong and use them there.

A U.S. official previously said that a small number of H200 chips had been shipped to China.

Reuters said it could not independently verify the report, and NVIDIA did not immediately comment.
