Tezpur University in Stalemate Over VC Allegations
There's a big problem at Tezpur University in Assam.
Students and teachers are very upset with the university's leader, the Vice Chancellor.
They say he has done some bad things, like spending money in a wrong way and not being nice to people.
They also say he has been away from the university a lot.
Everyone is so upset that they have stopped going to classes and exams.
The government has said they will look into the problem, but the protests are still happening.
The students and teachers want the Vice Chancellor to be removed.
They are especially upset because the Vice Chancellor did not let them have a proper time to remember a famous singer who recently died.
This made everyone even more angry and started the big protests.
Staff and students at Tezpur University are protesting against Vice Chancellor Shambu Nath Singh, demanding his removal.
Allegations include financial irregularities in procurement of furniture, laptops, and other items.
The Vice Chancellor is accused of prolonged absences, totaling 388 days from April 2023 to September 2025.
The university declared an academic shutdown in November, and exams that were postponed have now begun.
The government has committed to a time-bound inquiry into the allegations, but the protests continue.
