US Envoy’s Srinagar Visit Signals Changing Kashmir Realities
US Ambassador Sergio Gor visited Srinagar in Kashmir.
He met local leader Omar Abdullah and also held meetings with senior Indian officials in New Delhi.
The visit happened as India says Kashmir has become more stable since 2019.
Gor said the United States regularly reviews its travel warnings.
He did not announce that the warning for Kashmir would change immediately.
If the warning becomes less strict later, more foreign tourists might visit.
More visitors could bring money and jobs to the region.
The visit also showed that the United States is discussing Kashmir as part of its wider relationship with India.
However, the United States is still cautious and no policy change has been confirmed.
US Ambassador Sergio Gor visited Srinagar and met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Gor said the United States constantly reevaluates its travel warnings, without announcing an immediate change.
The visit followed meetings in New Delhi with Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
India views the outreach as recognition of improved stability in Kashmir since 2019.
A softened travel advisory could support foreign tourism, investment, and a changed international image for Kashmir.
