Indian Caregiver Killed in Jerusalem; Employer’s Grandson Charged

Rajeev Acharya, also called Rajiv Acharya in one report, was an Indian caregiver in Jerusalem.

He was working for an elderly couple when he was attacked on July 23, 2026.

Reports say he was hurt with a sharp object and later died from blood loss.

Israeli authorities arrested Avior Zaken, who was identified as the couple’s grandson.

Prosecutors have charged him with premeditated murder.

They allege that he tried to hide what happened after the attack.

These claims still have to be tested in court, and Zaken is entitled to a fair trial.

Indian workers want help for Acharya’s family and better safety protections for caregivers.

India’s Embassy says it remains in contact with Israeli officials and is following the case.
