Northeast and Michigan Brace for Heavy Snow
Many big cities in the northeastern United States, like Washington DC, New York, and Boston, are getting ready for a lot of snow this weekend.
The weather people say these places might get 2 to 4 inches of snow, and some areas might get even more.
The snow might start on Saturday and continue into Sunday.
But because it's not too cold, the snow might turn into rain and not stay on the ground for very long, especially in the coastal and eastern areas.
This snow is good news because these cities haven't had much snow for the past five years.
Meanwhile, in Michigan, snow is already falling, with different amounts expected in different areas.
In southeast Michigan, including around Detroit, expect 1 to 3 inches of accumulation by Tuesday morning.
Farther west and in northern Lower Michigan, many spots are under a Winter Storm Warning, with 5 to 10 inches possible.
By Monday morning, the snow is expected to stop in the Northeast as the weather system moves away into Canada, but it will continue into Tuesday in Michigan.
Major US cities from Washington DC to Maine are expecting 2-4 inches of snow this weekend.
The snow is likely to turn into rain and not settle long in coastal and eastern regions due to rising temperatures.
The low-pressure area bringing the snow is expected to move from the Southeast to the Northeast by Sunday.
Major Northeast cities like Philadelphia, Boston, and New York could receive a few inches of snow by Sunday afternoon.
The snow offers a chance for some cities to climb out of their 5-year-long snow deficit.
