Monty Desai Set to Become Gujarat Cricket Head Coach
Monty Desai may soon become the coach of Gujarat’s senior men’s cricket team.
The Gujarat Cricket Association has not officially confirmed the appointment yet.
Its secretary said a decision should be made within one week.
Desai is currently watching players in trial and practice matches.
These matches are being used to select Gujarat’s teams for the next season.
He would likely replace former India spinner Ramesh Powar.
Desai recently left his job as Canada’s men’s head coach after a little more than three months.
He has also coached teams from Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Andhra and the West Indies.
Monty Desai is expected to replace Ramesh Powar as Gujarat’s senior men’s head coach.
Gujarat Cricket Association Secretary Anil Patel said a decision and official announcement are expected within one week.
Desai is observing players at the KSCA-Dr. (Capt.) K. Thimmappaiah Memorial Tournament during ongoing trials and practice matches.
The appointment would follow Desai’s departure from Canada’s men’s team after just over three months in his second stint.
Desai has previously coached Nepal, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Andhra and the West Indies, and worked with IPL franchises.
