Ashok Kharat Remanded for Three Days in Gemstone Fraud Case

Ashokkumar Eknath Kharat is accused of cheating people by promising special powers and better futures.

Police say he told a trader that gemstones placed in rings would help his business.

The trader allegedly gave him three gold rings and ₹2.62 lakh.

The stones in the rings were later reported to be cheap and fake.

A court in Nashik has allowed police to question Kharat for three more days.

Kharat has been in custody since March 18.

Police are investigating 18 cases connected to him.

Eight of those cases involve alleged offences against women, while others involve fraud and alleged violations of the anti-superstition law.
