WHO Members Adopt Pandemic Agreement After COVID-19
The WHO created a new agreement to help countries work together to fight future pandemics.
This plan aims to make sure everyone has access to vaccines and medicines when they are needed.
Countries will share virus samples and get access to tests, treatments, and vaccines in return.
A part of these medical products will go to the WHO to help poorer countries.
This agreement is a response to what happened during the COVID-19 pandemic and aims to make sure that all countries are better prepared for future outbreaks.
All member nations agreed on this historic decision.
WHO members adopted the first-ever Pandemic Agreement on Tuesday.
The agreement aims for equitable responses to future health emergencies.
It follows the COVID-19 pandemic and over three years of negotiation.
The agreement includes a system for sharing virus samples and ensuring access to products.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers will provide the WHO with 20% of pandemic-related health products.
