Open warrant issued against alleged gangster
A man named Kumar Pillai, who is from Hong Kong, is in trouble.
He was brought to a city from Singapore in 2016.
The police say he might have been involved in a murder that happened in 2007.
Two of his friends were already found not guilty in this case in 2017.
Pillai asked the court to send him back to Hong Kong because he was not found guilty in three other cases.
But the court has not decided yet.
Now, the police want to issue an open warrant to make sure Pillai faces trial in the murder case.
This means they need to talk to the authorities in Singapore to bring him to court.
An open warrant has been issued against Kumar Pillai, an alleged gangster, in connection with a 2007 murder case.
Pillai was brought to the city from Singapore in 2016 and has three pending cases, all of which have ended in acquittal.
He approached a special court in November, requesting to be repatriated to Hong Kong, his home country.
The Mumbai police crime branch found that Pillai is absconding in the 2007 murder case, where two of his associates were acquitted in 2017.
The court has not yet decided on Pillai's plea for repatriation, and an open warrant is needed to make him face trial in the murder case.
