Nepal Warns Villagers as Budhi Gandaki River Exceeds Danger Level
Nepal flood alert: Budhi Gandaki river crosses danger level, villagers told to move to higher ground immediately · thestatesman.com

Officials in Nepal warned people living near the Budhi Gandaki River to stay away from its banks.

They said a large flood was coming from Chumanubri Rural Municipality-6.

At Arughat, the river had passed its danger level and was still rising.

People were told to go to higher ground and wait until the flood passed.

The warning covered areas downstream as far as Trishuli Dobhan.

Earlier in September, a flood on the nearby Therang River swept away four houses and a bridge.

Nobody died in that earlier flood.

Officials are concerned because fast-moving water and debris can travel through the steep valleys quickly.
