Torrent Power Q1 Profit Falls on Weak Demand and Gas Prices
Torrent Power, an electricity provider, saw its profits decrease in the first quarter.
The company made less money than the previous year due to lower demand for power and high gas prices.
Revenue also went down overall, especially from generating electricity.
However, the company's renewable energy division did well.
The monsoon starting earlier impacted demand.
Torrent Power's profit decreased by 25.5% in Q1 FY26.
Revenue from operations fell by 12.5% to ₹7,906 crore.
Generation revenue declined by 32%, while transmission/distribution dipped by 5.7%.
Renewable segment revenues grew by 20% due to solar additions and favorable wind.
The company cited lower power demand and higher gas prices as reasons for the profit decline.
