SC Allows CPWD to Build Water Facility in Delhi Ridge
The Supreme Court of India has given permission to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to build a water-storage facility and lay pipelines in Buddha Jayanti Park, which is located in the Delhi Ridge area.
This decision was made after considering the submissions of the Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati.
The court is also hearing a case about protecting the Delhi Ridge forest.
An environmental activist, Bhavreen Kandhari, had raised concerns about illegal tree felling in the Ridge area.
The court emphasized that no trees should be cut down for this new water facility.
The Delhi Forest Department had earlier reported that a fake permission was issued for tree felling in the Ridge area for a housing project, which is against the court's orders.
