India GDP Beats Forecasts as Opposition Questions Growth

India said its economy grew by 7.8% in the first three months of the 2026-27 financial year.

This was faster than the 6.9% growth recorded during the same period a year earlier.

The result was also better than forecasts.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier predicted an “Economic Tsunami,” so the reported number was presented as contrary to that prediction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the growth and criticized people who doubted the economy.

Congress and other Opposition voices still questioned what the number means.

They also criticized the Modi government.

A Times Now panel discussed whether the doubters would change their views.
