DK Schools Drop Eggs from Midday Meals After Parents' Input
Some schools in Dakshina Kannada stopped serving eggs in midday meals after parents said they didn't want their kids to have them.
The Akshara Dasoha office, which handles the meals, first said no, as a state-wide program mandated eggs.
But, parents wrote in, asking for bananas instead.
The schools surveyed the parents and found that the majority preferred bananas.
Now, these 11 schools are giving bananas instead of eggs.
They stopped serving chikki as well due to its adverse health effects.
The meals are running smoothly now, and the total number of students getting the meals will be known in June, as enrollment continues.
