Nigerian Navy Finds 99,000 Litres in Anti-Theft Operations
The Nigerian Navy searched areas in Rivers and Delta States for illegal oil activity.
It found three places where people may have been refining oil without permission.
The Navy also found six reservoirs and about 99,000 litres of suspected stolen or illegally refined fuel.
The operations took place on 31 August 2026.
The searches followed information about suspected illegal petroleum activities.
Equipment found included a large refining oven and storage facilities.
The discoveries may make it harder for illegal oil operations to continue.
The Navy said it dealt with the sites and products using established procedures.
The Nigerian Navy discovered approximately 99,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil.
Three suspected illegal refining sites, six reservoirs and other storage facilities were found.
The discoveries occurred in separate operations across Rivers and Delta States.
Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH and Nigerian Navy Ship DELTA conducted the operations on 31 August 2026.
The Navy said the sites, infrastructure and recovered products were handled according to established procedures.
