FDA Warns Palamur Biosciences Over Animal Testing Violations
The US FDA has warned an Indian company, Palamur Biosciences, for not following the rules in their animal testing lab.
They found many problems like poor care for the animals, dirty living conditions, and not following proper procedures.
This has made PETA India very concerned, and they have asked the Indian government to take action.
The FDA says the company's responses to these problems were not good enough, and they are worried that similar issues might happen again.
PETA India also says that the Indian regulators have not done enough to fix these problems, even though they have known about them for a while.
US FDA issued a warning letter to Palamur Biosciences for serious violations of good laboratory practice regulations.
Violations include poor veterinary records, inadequate euthanasia practices, unsanitary housing conditions, and failures in quality assurance.
PETA India has sought intervention from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Union ministry of animal husbandry.
Previous inspections by Indian regulators found similar issues but did not result in meaningful enforcement.
Palamur Biosciences houses over 1,200 animals, including beagles, pigs, monkeys, sheep, cattle, and rodents.
