Poland Extends Border Controls with Germany, Lithuania
Poland is keeping its border checks with Germany and Lithuania for a longer time.
These checks are to stop people from crossing the border illegally, especially those who might be smuggled.
The checks, which began in July 2025, were supposed to end soon but will now continue until April 2026.
Poland says it's catching people who are trying to help migrants get into Western Europe without permission.
Border guards have stopped many people trying to cross illegally.
They're also monitoring routes from the Baltic states.
The main reason is to control who is coming into the country and maintain safety.
Poland extends border controls with Germany and Lithuania until April 4, 2026.
Controls are meant to monitor migration routes from the Baltic states.
The extension takes effect on October 5.
Controls were initially imposed in July 2025.
Nearly 25,000 illegal crossing attempts were recorded at the Polish-Belarusian border in the first eight months of 2025.
