Tata Motors Launches Aeris Sedan at ₹5.29 Lakh for Buyers
Tata Motors has launched a new small sedan called the Aeris.
The petrol version starts at ₹5.29 lakh, while the CNG version starts at ₹6.29 lakh.
The car is mainly for people buying a vehicle for themselves or their families.
It will not be sold to fleet operators such as taxi companies.
Tata Motors will continue serving fleets with its Xpres-T model.
The Aeris has petrol and CNG options, along with manual and automatic-style AMT transmissions.
It includes features such as a large screen, ventilated seats, wireless charging and safety cameras.
SUVs are becoming more popular, but Tata says many people still want compact sedans.
The company may make an electric Aeris later after the electric-car market in its price range becomes larger.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles launched the Aeris compact sedan at ₹5.29 lakh for petrol and ₹6.29 lakh for CNG.
The Aeris replaces the Tata Tigor and is intended exclusively for personal buyers, while Xpres-T will continue serving fleets.
The compact-sedan market sells more than 3.4 lakh vehicles annually, with personal buyers accounting for about 65% of demand.
The Aeris offers petrol and CNG powertrains, manual and AMT transmissions, six airbags, a 360-degree camera and connected features.
Tata Motors is considering an electric Aeris but will wait for the ₹8 lakh-to-₹15 lakh EV market to expand.

Future of compact sedans
Compact-Sedan Opportunity
Tata Motors says the segment remains large, grew about 25% in the past year and has less competition than SUVs.
SUV and EV Caution
Sedans have been losing market share as customers increasingly shift toward SUVs, even though segment volumes have risen.
Reason for targeting personal buyers
Compact-Sedan Opportunity
Tata Motors believes some customers moved to SUVs because existing compact sedans lacked modern features, creating an opportunity for the Aeris.
SUV and EV Caution
The company acknowledges that SUVs are the broader market trend and will launch the Aeris only because compact-sedan demand still has a critical mass.
Timing of an electric Aeris
Compact-Sedan Opportunity
The Aeris has been configured to support a possible future electric powertrain.
SUV and EV Caution
Tata Motors will wait for the ₹8 lakh-to-₹15 lakh EV market to grow to avoid competing with or cannibalising its Tiago, Punch and Nexon EV offerings.
