NFR Partners to Boost Sustainability with Eco-Friendly Initiatives
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is making changes to be more eco-friendly.
They signed agreements to help.
One agreement is to turn Guwahati Railway Station into a place that recycles all its plastic.
They will improve how they store trash, make compost, and teach people about recycling.
They also plan to start using bags that break down easily in AC coaches, starting with the Brahmaputra Mail train.
These steps are part of a bigger plan to make the railway cleaner and greener.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) signed MoUs with Pollution Control Board of Assam and IIT Guwahati.
An MoU with PCBA aims to transform Guwahati Railway Station into a 100% plastic recycling hub.
A six-member task force, led by the Station Superintendent, will oversee the recycling initiative.
The second MoU with IIT Guwahati focuses on introducing biodegradable bags for bedroll distribution.
The initiatives align with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of 'Transformation by Transportation'.
