Calcutta HC Rejects BDO's Bail in Jewellery Shop Owner's Murder
A jewellery shop owner named Swapan Kamilya was found dead with 32 wounds in a deserted area of Kolkata.
His family alleged that a Block Development Officer (BDO) named Prasanta Burman and some men abducted him using a car with a blue beacon.
The BDO was initially granted bail, but the higher court rejected it and ordered him to surrender.
The court said the BDO was a mastermind in the crime and used his official position to help in the murder.
The BDO's domestic help was allegedly involved in stealing gold from the BDO's house and selling it at Kamilya's shop.
Calcutta High Court rejected the anticipatory bail of BDO Prasanta Burman in the murder case of jewellery shop owner Swapan Kamilya.
The court ordered Burman to surrender within 72 hours, stating he was the mastermind and used his official position in the crime.
Kamilya's body was found with 32 wounds in New Town, Kolkata, on October 29.
The victim's family alleged that Burman and his men abducted Kamilya using a car with a blue beacon.
