Thane Orders Stricter Measures Against Rising Stray Dog Conflicts
Thane officials are worried about more conflicts between people and stray dogs.
They want local authorities to sterilise more dogs.
They also want more dogs to receive anti-rabies vaccinations.
This is meant to reduce the risk of dog attacks and rabies.
Officials must create plans and facilities to run these programmes.
During heavy rain or disasters, stray animals should have shelters, clean water and emergency veterinary help.
Police, civic agencies and animal-care officials are expected to work together.
The goal is to protect people while treating animals humanely.
Thane authorities ordered stronger measures after increasing human-stray dog conflict cases across the district.
Local bodies must intensify stray dog sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination drives.
Urban and rural authorities were asked to plan infrastructure for expanded sterilisation programmes.
Officials must arrange temporary shelters, clean water and emergency veterinary care during monsoons and disasters.
The administration called for coordinated compliance among civic bodies, police, animal husbandry officials and other agencies.
