Doctors Perform High-Risk Angioplasty on 60-Year-Old Man
Doctors in Navi Mumbai successfully performed a high-risk angioplasty on a 60-year-old man from Bihar.
The patient had severe heart disease and a very low heart function.
Normally, such cases require open-heart surgery, but the doctors used a special machine called an Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) to help the heart during the procedure.
This machine inflates and deflates to improve blood flow and reduce the heart's workload.
The doctors also used very little dye to protect the patient's kidneys.
After the procedure, the patient recovered quickly and was discharged within four days.
A 60-year-old man from Bihar underwent a high-risk angioplasty at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai.
The patient had severe multi-vessel coronary artery disease and a critically low ejection fraction of 20%.
Due to the high risk of bypass surgery, doctors opted for a complex PCI supported by an Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP).
The IABP helped maintain circulation and reduce the heart's workload during the procedure.
The patient showed significant improvement and was discharged within four days in a stable condition.
