November 2025 Supermoon: Closest Full Moon of the Year
Imagine the Moon is like a ball on a string that's not perfectly round, so it gets closer and farther away from Earth as it spins around us.
On November 5, 2025, the Moon will be super close to Earth, making it look a little bit bigger and a lot brighter than usual!
This special full moon is called a supermoon.
This one will be the closest supermoon of the year.
It's also known as the 'Beaver Moon' because beavers usually build their homes around this time of year.
Even though it's closer, the tides won't change much.
If you look up on a clear night, you might notice it seems bigger, but it's hard to tell without comparing it to other moons.
This is the second of three supermoons happening in 2025.
The closest supermoon of 2025, the 'Beaver Moon,' will occur on November 5 at 13:19 UTC.
It will appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than the year's faintest full moon.
The Moon will be just under 222,000 miles (357,000 kilometers) from Earth during this event.
Tidal changes due to the Moon's proximity are expected to be minimal.
This is the second of three supermoons in 2025, with the next one on December 4.
