Andhra Pradesh to Develop Greenfield Port and Shipbuilding Cluster
The Andhra Pradesh government has given permission to the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB) to build a new port and a big shipbuilding area in Dugarajapatnam.
This project is part of a national plan to make India one of the top countries in shipbuilding.
The government will work with the central government to create a special team to manage this project.
They will use 2,000 acres of land for this purpose.
The goal is to build a shipyard that can make half a million tons of ships every year.
The Indian government wants to increase shipbuilding to 4.5 million tons per year by 2047, which is a big increase from what they make now.
Andhra Pradesh government permits APMB to establish a greenfield port and National Mega Shipbuilding Cluster in Dugarajapatnam.
