Calcutta High Court Sends Four Tulu Mondal Pleas for Reassignment
The Calcutta High Court was considering four cases filed by Tulu Mondal.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya decided not to hear those cases.
He had already dismissed another case filed by Mondal on September 22.
The judge said that no other case involving Mondal remained before him after that decision.
He sent the four cases to the Chief Justice for new orders.
Another court had earlier moved the cases because of other matters involving Mondal.
A lower court had issued an arrest warrant and declared Mondal a fugitive.
Police also found gold and a large amount of cash at the home of someone described as his associate.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya declined to hear four criminal revision applications filed by Md Nazibuddin Mondal, known as Tulu Mondal.
The judge directed that the matters be placed before the Chief Justice for appropriate orders and reassignment.
The applications had previously been released by another bench on September 21 and then assigned to Justice Bhattacharyya.
Justice Bhattacharyya had dismissed a separate Mondal petition on September 22 challenging an arrest warrant and fugitive proclamation.
Police reportedly seized 5 kg of gold bars and more than Rs 28.53 crore in cash from an alleged associate’s residence in Birbhum.
