Telangana CEO Directs Gram Sabhas to Resolve Electoral Roll Issues
Election officials in Telangana want local village and ward meetings to help fix voter-list problems.
Booth Level Officers, or BLOs, will organize these meetings at polling stations.
They will discuss voters who are absent, have moved, have died or appear more than once.
They will also discuss people whose voter records could not be matched correctly.
Officials must explain the draft voter list and check applications that were left out.
People can use different forms to add, delete or correct names.
Notices for hearings must clearly say where and when the hearing will happen.
Officials believe open meetings will make the election process easier to understand and more trustworthy.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy directed BLOs to hold Gram or Ward Sabhas at polling stations.
