Kerala SIT Drops 35 Film Industry Harassment Cases
A special police team in Kerala has stopped investigating 35 cases of alleged sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry.
These cases came from a report about problems in the industry.
The police couldn't continue because the people who said they were harmed didn't want to give statements.
The court was told about this decision on Wednesday.
A film event is scheduled for August 2025 to discuss industry issues and a new law.
SIT closed all 35 cases of sexual abuse allegations in the Malayalam film industry.
Cases stemmed from the Justice Hema committee report on sexual harassment.
Complainants did not provide statements, leading to case closures.
The Kerala High Court was informed of the SIT's decision on Wednesday.
A film conclave is planned for August 2025 to finalize draft legislation.
