Supriya Ganesh’s Medical Path Leads to Emmys Recognition

Supriya Ganesh’s Medical Path Leads to Emmys Recognition

Supriya Ganesh studied neuroscience and was preparing for medical school.

She scored extremely well on the MCAT, placing in the 99th percentile.

Instead of becoming a doctor, she decided to try acting.

She was cast as Dr. Samira Mohan on the medical drama The Pitt.

Ganesh liked the show because its medicine was written accurately.

She even kept tutoring students for the MCAT while acting on the show.

The Pitt also featured Ganesh alongside Shabana Azeez and Deepti Gupta in important roles.

Ganesh has said South Asian actors are sometimes made to compete for only one role.

Her appearance at the 2026 Emmys brought more attention to both her acting and her views on representation.
