UIDAI Completes Two Crore Aadhaar Updates For Schoolchildren
UIDAI is the organization that manages Aadhaar in India.
It has updated the fingerprints and eye information of more than two crore schoolchildren.
The work happened through special camps held in about 1.56 lakh schools.
The drive began in September 2025.
Children under five usually have only their photo and basic details recorded because their fingerprints and eye patterns are still developing.
They must update their biometrics when they turn five and again when they turn fifteen.
These updates can help Aadhaar work more smoothly when children use government services or register for exams.
The updates are currently free for children from ages five to seventeen until September 30, 2026.
UIDAI completed more than two crore mandatory biometric updates for schoolchildren nationwide.
The special drive, launched in September 2025, covered about 1.56 lakh schools.
UIDAI used integration with the Unified District Information System for Education Plus to track children’s update status.
Mandatory biometric updates are required at ages 5 and 15 because biometrics are not collected for children below five.
Updates are free for children aged 5–17 until September 30, 2026, under current provisions.
