KSRTC's Dhwani Spandana Project Wins National Award for Accessible Public Transport
Imagine a special bus system that helps people who can't see very well.
KSRTC created a project called Dhwani Spandana to help these passengers.
They put a special system on over 200 buses in Mysuru.
This system uses sound to tell blind passengers which bus is coming and where to get on.
It's like a talking guide for the bus stop!
Over 400 people who are visually impaired have learned how to use this cool technology.
Because of this, they can travel more easily and feel safer, making them more independent.
The government recognized this amazing work with a national award.
KSRTC's Dhwani Spandana project received a National Award for its innovative approach to accessible public transport.
The project specifically caters to visually impaired passengers, making public transport more inclusive.
The award recognizes the implementation of an OnBoard Bus Identification and Navigation System in 200 Mysuru City buses.
This system, developed by the Raised Lines Foundation at IIT Delhi, uses assistive audio signals to help users identify buses and find entry points.
More than 400 visually impaired individuals have been trained to use the technology, enhancing their travel independence and safety.
