Luxon retains National Party backing ahead of New Zealand election

Christopher Luxon is the leader of New Zealand, like the boss of the whole country.

Some people in his team, the National Party, were not happy with his work.

They were worried because not enough people seemed to want to vote for them.

Two times this year, the team voted on whether he should stay as their leader.

Both times, enough people voted to keep him.

The vote happened just before a big election where everyone in the country picks their leaders.

One person who started the second challenge, Chris Penk, lost his important job as Defence Minister.

Some ministers said the party is united and fully supports Luxon.

But some people are not sure everyone really agrees, and a few ministers might even lose their seats in the election.
