Chitrakoot Floods: Over 60 Rescued As Mandakini Surges

Heavy rain caused the Mandakini River to rise far above its danger level.

Floodwater covered homes, hotels, shops and parts of Chitrakoot.

Some people had to wait on the roofs of their houses.

More than 60 people were rescued and taken to safer places.

Indian Air Force helicopters helped rescue people from rooftops.

Disaster-response teams and local officials also worked in the flooded areas.

Villagers from Gobariya were evacuated safely.

Their animals were moved to secure locations too.

Officials said no deaths had been reported by the evening of August 29.
