Karp Warns Falling Behind in AI Could Endanger Countries

Alex Karp leads a company that makes software using data and artificial intelligence.

He said countries could be hurt if they fall too far behind other countries in AI.

He also said AI may cause problems and disruption, so it is not completely good.

Countries need powerful computers, their own data and ways to control and train AI systems.

AI data centres also need a lot of electricity.

Karp said leaders must explain how they will produce that power.

He believes very frightening predictions about AI have made people and politicians more resistant to using it.

He said the United States is strong at creating AI, but some Asian countries may be quicker to use it.

European countries could lose ground if regulation and public opposition slow adoption.
