Tribal Voters Reluctant to Fill Forms
Some tribal families in the Bankura and Purulia districts of West Bengal are not filling out important forms for the electoral roll revision.
They are being influenced by leaders of a traditional system called Majhi Sarkar, who have told them not to participate.
These families believe they don't need to be part of Indian citizenship because they already have identity cards from the Majhi Sarkar.
Recently, three leaders of this group were arrested for trying to stop people from filling out the forms.
The local government is trying to convince these families to participate, but many are still reluctant.
The ruling political party is also paying attention to this issue and trying to help.
Tribal families in Bankura and Purulia are reluctant to fill enumeration forms due to influence from Majhi Sarkar leaders.
Three Majhi Sarkar representatives were arrested for trying to block participation in the enumeration exercise.
Reluctant families fear exclusion or manipulation and believe they don't need Indian citizenship due to Majhi Sarkar identity cards.
Local administrations are working to convince these families to participate, with some success.
The ruling Trinamul Congress is addressing the issue, with the Tribal Development Cultural Board head calling it a case of cheating.
