Manoj Bajpayee to Portray Gandhi in Sudhir Mishra’s Film
A new film will show Manoj Bajpayee playing Mahatma Gandhi.
It is being directed by Sudhir Mishra and does not have a title yet.
The story takes place around India’s Independence in 1947.
While people celebrated in Delhi, Gandhi stayed in Calcutta.
The city was experiencing violence between Hindus and Muslims.
Gandhi tried to persuade people to stop fighting.
When his appeals did not work, he stopped eating to encourage peace.
His fast ended after about 73 hours when leaders promised to halt the violence.
Manoj Bajpayee will play Mahatma Gandhi in Sudhir Mishra’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled film.
The film focuses on Gandhi’s final 21 days during India’s Independence in 1947.
Gandhi stayed in Calcutta instead of joining Independence celebrations in Delhi, where he worked to stop communal violence.
He began a fast unto death that lasted about 73 hours and ended on 4 September 1947 after peace assurances.
Saurabh Shukla will also appear, while Benaras Mediaworks, Narendra Hirawat and NH Studioz are backing or presenting the project.
