Rising Gomti Floods Leave 40,000 Faizullaganj Homes Underwater

The Gomti River has risen and flooded parts of Faizullaganj in Lucknow.

The water has entered around 40,000 homes, and nearly three lakh people are affected.

Some streets have four to five feet of water, so getting out or finding supplies is difficult.

Low-lying land and blocked drains make it harder for water to flow away.

Rainwater from areas upstream has also added to the river’s rise.

Boats and medical teams are helping people, and officials have ordered extra support for those who may need to leave quickly.

Residents say some families in interior areas are still waiting for help.

Floodwater can also bring health and safety risks, including dirty water and snakes.
