Omar Abdullah Slams Congress Over Vande Mataram Law

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah criticized Congress over a dispute involving Vande Mataram.

The issue concerns a law requiring the national song to be sung in full.

Abdullah questioned whether Kashmiris could be jailed because of the law.

He said Congress should have opposed the law in Parliament.

He also accused Congress of using the issue for political purposes.

Abdullah said Congress could cancel the law if it returns to power.

He said he would not object to that change.

The report does not include a response from Congress.
