NDA Dominates Bihar Elections: Assembly Sees Rise in Wealth and Women, Drop in Muslim Representation
In Bihar, a big election happened where one group called the NDA won a lot of seats, much more than the other group, the Mahagathbandhan.
This means the NDA will be in charge of the state's assembly.
The new group of lawmakers in the assembly is richer than before, with the average politician having more money.
There are also a few more women elected this time, but not by a lot.
The most noticeable change is that there are fewer Muslim lawmakers than there have been in many years.
Both the winning and losing parties didn't give as many chances to Muslim candidates.
This election has changed who represents the people in Bihar's government, showing differences in wealth, gender, and religious representation.
The NDA secured a decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, winning 202 out of 243 seats.
The newly elected Bihar Assembly is significantly wealthier, with average MLA assets rising from Rs 4.3 crore in 2020 to Rs 9 crore in 2025.
Women's representation in the assembly has marginally increased to 28 MLAs (11.5%) from 26 (10.7%) in 2020.
Muslim representation has dropped to its lowest in decades, with only 10 MLAs (approximately 4%) compared to 19 in 2020.
Key parties within the NDA, BJP and JD(U), won 89 and 85 seats respectively, while the RJD led the Mahagathbandhan with 25 seats.
